Student Feedback 2011

Collating the feedback and analyzing the data help me realize the problems and mistakes made. This should have been done way earlier but I've putting it off for months. Finally got it out the way today and now I can get on with the task of rebuilding.
Admittedly, I didn't do very well last year but the students looked passed my weaknesses and still loved me. This year I really have to get my act together and do a good job. Just have to be more focused, more disciplined and find more creative ways in doing things.

A. The Class

1. A ~ It is because teacher Corinna is caring and hardworking to make sure that we get the best result in the exams.
2. A ~ I gain a lot of knowledge in this class. Teacher is very good and cares for all students.
3. A ~ This class has let me pass my English.
4. A ~ It is because I learned a lot of vocabulary and the culture of other countries. It is quite fun.
5. A ~ I can listen to different voices of my friends when learning. The learning atmosphere is also funny and interesting.
6. A ~ I think, lessons after lessons, I am gaining more and more knowledge.

You are the best teacher I have ever met. I recommended my brother to join your next primary English class. he he he he…If he does anything bad in class, tell me on FB…XD…

3. I would grade this class ‘A’ because of the teacher

4. A – because new things were learned every week. The class learns not only knowledge of the subject but also general knowledge.

5. A. I find the lessons are always interesting and there are always new things, new words and many other new phrases that I have never encountered before. I feel eager when entering class too.

6. A. It is full of new vocabulary and grammar. I also learned how to ‘show, not tell’. In the lessons, we not only learned things in the syllabus, but also the culture of other countries.

7. The class is interesting. It deserves to be an advanced class.

8. A. it is because I gain something every time after the class. I like the atmosphere in our class. I feel comfortable in this class.

9. Overall, I would grade this class ‘A’. This is because the students in this class are keen to learn from you, teacher. Students concentrate a lot in this class. This is what an advanced class is all about.

10. I would grade this class an A. although we students some are very poor in English, some are very clever, the teacher tries hard to teach all of us.

11. A. It is because the teacher has taught me many new words and the literature of English. Although I join this class for one year only, I feel that I have learned many things.

30. B – the class is quite an inactive class and there is a student named Faiz Azlee, who is very noisy, annoying and frustrating. The time for this class is not good as it is in the early morning while I should be sleeping soundly in my bed!

31. B. The class is too quiet. Students need enthusiasm during class. Class on Sundays is a mistake. It is because I won’t go to bed early on Saturday. Therefore, I am always tired. It is my fault, teacher. Thank you :).

My teacher.

2. The place I sit is quite cold. It makes me feel sleepy easily. But I didn’t fall sleep. I also feel a bit shy every time you ask me whether I have breakfast before coming to class. I really enjoy this class. The teacher can know what the student thinks. She can also tell jokes. It is good. It’s a bit hard for me to use English to write. But teacher, just let me try. HA HA!

3. I learned lotssssss of things from you, teacher. The most memorable moment? Every lesson is memorable for me :). The classmates are cheerful and humourous (well, I was just keeping my mouth shut all the time pretending to be anti-social?? =p). Teacher, I really hope you can take Form 5 lah! SOBBING…Anyway, keep in touch on FB. Maybe I can visit you since I live in Permas too! Ha ha…Your house is just beside my school. Keep in touch! Miss you! x u x u

4. I love the riddles taught by Teacher. I would grade teacher 10 upon 10. I have learnt many quotes from Teacher. I even post the quotes on Facebook. I hope this is not a farewell for me, and I hope next year I will meet Teacher again. My Omega classmate, Faiz is a friend indeed. Although he is too addicted to Korean drama, I learnt to be more interactive from him. I would ask Teacher a favour: add me in FB. This is because I want to learn English in more detail. See you next year!

5. The most memorable moments were during the literature lesson (drama) in class. The drama and the acting were interesting thought the latter needs improving. Too many new vocabulary that I have learnt in this class. Never had I once felt sleepy during class, unlike my other classes.

6. I become more confident as I attend this class. I believe in myself. I try to use English to communicate with my friends. Thank you, teacher!

7. The class is awesome. After joining this class, my English has improved a lot. Thank you, teacher.

8. I have learned many new things especially on the happenings around me, good poems and phrases and have improved in my vocabulary.

9. I learned how to speak English better and the most memorable moment was when the teacher told me that I have improved.

10. I learned a lot of words from the class. The teacher is humourous. My favourite topic that the teacher taught is ‘English words that are borrowed from other languages’. It was fun. Thank you, teacher!

12. This class enables me to learn in a relaxed and happy manner. The teacher does not give us stress in our results.

13. Although I just joined this class for less than two months, I have learned much vocabulary that I didn’t know. I can show off my English to my friends also. This class is very friendly. The teacher is creative…but the handwriting can be clearer and bigger.

14. Have creative material, bring my life up, air conditioning is too cool, enjoyable and relaxed - unlike BM class. These are the reasons I have continued my lessons in this class.

15. The class is a bit cold. However, the teaching is good.

17. Memorable moments: when we all were playing Hangman and having riddles. I had fun joking with Soon Hor.

19. My most memorable moment is the time when we played Hangman. I have learned how to play Hangman properly.

20. I liked the ‘Hangman’ game. Sometimes if we had enough time, we played this game together.

22. I have learned a lot of vocabulary in this class. My most memorable moment was when we acted out the drama in front of the class. I like the teacher of the class ^^

24. I have learned a lot of difficult vocabulary. In the literature lessons, I have learned a lot more in the tuition class than in school.

Your Comments on the teacher

1. I enjoyed all the classes (except for those days when I have to learn my literature and summary) and it has been my favourite class among all my classes so far.

2. The class is not boring. It is interesting and full of happiness and laughter. Teacher is also humourous at suitable times.

3. The lessons were so interesting that I did not have a chance to sleep in class. The weaknesses (?) is Teacher does not teach Form 5 students.

4. Of course, Teacher has notable strengths. Weaknesses, I have to say no! Improving Teacher’s teaching? Don’t have to! In my opinion, teacher, you are better than my school English teacher. Teacher’s notable strength is your pronunciation in reading.

5. The class is interesting. I have more fun when learning English. Teacher’s voice is powerful enough for the whole class to hear clearly. Teacher is strict enough on handphones and noises of the class. This makes me concentrate more when the class is going on.

6. Teacher is the best and we all are very happy to get this teacher. Teacher can use the projector to make the lessons more interesting.

7. You have good vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. I think that perhaps games are a good way to improve your teaching because I like games.

4 Eng Adv 2010 Student Feedback

... just some thoughts

The good… ٩(●̮̮̃•)۶ ٩(●̮̮̃•)۶ ٩(●̮̮̃•)۶If numbers speak for themselves, the above table is a reflection of how you view me: my performance in class, my preparation of worksheets and me, as a person. With nearly 90% of you graded me an average ‘A’ for my teaching, it appears that you like me more as a person compared to my worksheets (80% ‘A’ ), and you are not entirely satisfied with the performance of the class as a whole ( 74% ‘A’).

There are also surprises and disappointments in your feedback, along with many challenges that lie ahead leaving much room for improvement.

I am pleasantly surprised by your overwhelming positive response to the vocabulary learning section of the worksheets. The fact that nearly 90% of you graded the comprehension passages ‘A’ shows that you understood the message I was trying to get across. I am also a little chuffed that I have not been perceived so much as ‘serious’ and ‘boring’ these days as ‘humourous’ and ‘creative’. Your teacher is learning the rope too, class, and thanks for bearing with me.



the not-so-good… :=◐ :=◐ :=◐My failure in teaching summary writing to meet your needs is a big blow and I am disappointed that the essay writing lessons have not encouraged much interest in writing. In the last lesson, when I asked you to repeat after me “I love writing”, the resounding response was still, “I hate writing!” While nearly 80% of you thought that the literature teaching was good, the other 20% graded it an average B. I will take all these as challenges and do my best in order to improve.

Some of you have commented that I am ‘sort of sensitive’, but it is ironic that this ‘sensitive’ teacher has been ‘insensitive’ to students’ problems. I owe Chee Fong an apology for mistaking his closing of eyes as falling asleep in class. In fact, it was the freezing cold that caused him to close his eyes. Apparently, a few students also had to endure the biting chill of our top-class air-conditioners because the teacher had failed to turn them off at the appropriate time!



the uncertain… (◐.̃◐) (◐.̃◐) (◐.̃◐)On a light-hearted note, some of you even commented on my outfit. While some thought my outfit was always attractive, one parent thought I was ‘too fashionable’. Now that’s food for thought. I wonder if this means being fashionable and teachers do not mix.



and the path forward… ◕‿ ◕‿ ◕‿You have been a great class. You walk in my life and begin to breathe, and as I am around you, I occasionally find myself catching my breath with you.

What makes a good teacher 3 Eng (2)

Dear teacher.

Hello. I’m Lee Yue. Even though I am still a ‘freshman’ in your class, I enjoy your lesson very much - honestly, throughout the year.
In my opinion, a good teacher is characterised with a few characteristics: patient, caring, knowledgeable, passionate about the job,humourous and friendly. It is also important for a teacher to interact with students.

For Teacher’s information, I think you deserve to be a good teacher. You have gained the ‘credential’ to be a good teacher, from my point of view. The English class is really fun when Teacher cracks jokes thatmake us burst out laughing. As a result, it boosts my interest in English.
P.S.
I didn’t find any weakness in you, Teacher because you are already a great English teacher from my point of view.

A good teacher should be knowledgeable, caring and humourous. Teachers must prepare well before teaching and prepare neat worksheets for their students.Neat worksheets with some funny jokes and graphics will make students more interested in the studies. A good teacher should be able to control the noise of the class.

My English tuition teacher’s teaching is clear and can be understood easily. She explains well and inspires us. She teaches from the heart and everything she does is just for our sake – to make us outstanding students.She tries her very best to ensure we know what she is teaching and to obtain good results in every test.
I hope she would share more stories and experiences with us. Teacher, hope you won’t mind me saying one thing: please do not ask us not to follow your class the following year. It is quite sad to hear that you cannot teach us in Form 4 next year. I really enjoy your lessons throughout these two years.
I would like to know your more. That’s why I hope you can share with us more stories and experiences as some of them which you have shared with us are really interesting. I would like to learn more vocabulary as my vocab is not really good but I think grammar is also important.

A good and knowledgeable teacher is able to explain well and make sure his or her students understand the teaching well. A good teacher should have passion in teaching but not greed for money and power.

The outstanding features of my English teacher's teaching are that she can speak fluent English and her students can understand her well. She always inspires me in her own way.

The weakness in my English teacher is probably that she hardly shares her experiences with us.
